First, i want to say hello, because i'm new here .
I've got a strange problem with starting my gpz. When engine is cold (something like a morning after all night with closed fuel valve), only way to start the engine is open the fuel valve, go away for maybe 15 mins, get back and then engine starts pretty fast, but when bike has no enough time with open fuel valve, it's impossible to start (choke position has no matters). When it starts first time, later it's no problem with starting, even after about 8 hours from last running. At start of holidays i cleaned carbs (there was some dirt, fuel was leaking, because one valve was blocked), and this wasn't help with this, just that, when was hot outside this problem was smaller.
Only idea i have is to make a carbs heater, but it looks insane .
When i wanted to start every bike i had before, i was opening fuel valve, choke and just kick and i never had a problem like that. My brother's Aprilia RX starts from first kick (with choke ofc) even with closed fuel valve after about 2 weeks not running. Is there any problem with carbs, or this happend in this bike?
========
I've got a second question about carbs: what about Keihin CVK32 from Bandit 600, instead GPZ's CV32? Here, in PL, it's quite hard to get parts to old small Kawas, so even i don't want to try unlock my carbs because if i break these, i won't have any carbs, but there's a lot bandit parts. On ours ebay, you can get a four CVK32 (easy to find) in a price of two blocked CV32 carbs (if you are lucky) - about 50E. |

welcome
same silly thing happens frequentloy to the xbr500 of my spouse; following things you should ckeck:
-floater level (carb/float chambe split line +-0,5 mm)
-petcock flow ok
-O-rings seals of the mixture screws ok
-any unmetered air (use break cleaner or start pilot) |

petcock and o-rings seems to be ok, floater level too (maybe little more than -0,5, maybe this is a problem?). How to check unmetered air (sorry, but i don't understand your advice in "()")? Iddle revs are stable, so i don't think there's a problem.
I done one thing: when i heat carbs with a heat gun, after one week from last ride, engine started immediately with no problems.
I'm when i find some time, i'm going to rise floater level, but after my experiment i'm thinking about make simple carb heater. |
