Hi Rey
I've never heard about a metal-gear for that.
I ve got only one times a pump-gear with broken teeth
It was due to excesslivly filling oil in; more than 4 litres
Therefore the pump had to work against too high resistance and the weakest part, the gear, broke.
In my opinion there is no need to replace it with a metal one.
If You fill in again very to o much oil han other parts will breake. So it is important not to fill more than the double size oil., then terhe is no need to worry about that gear. _________________ Grüsse

I realise your question was raised a few years ago but I can confirm that a metal cog is made for this model.
My engine seized in a big way(crank and pistons ruined) and I've just completed the rebuild, my mechanic showed me the oil pump cog because I was concerned that if it was plastic it may already be damaged and could then cause the engine to fail again. I also wondered if the failure was due to a failed oil pump cog but that clearly wasn't the case.
I wouldn't know how to obtain one because my bike already had it fitted, possibly after an earlier engine failure before I bought it. |
