Hello All!

Nice to see a forum for the GPz305!

I have a red '83 model with about 36,000 kms, which has the same tank, mini fairing and the light 5 spoke wheels - but the CDN model only has a single front disc brake on the left fork leg. Too bad - the European model looks really trick with twin discs!
In US and Canada, the cruiser version CRS305 probably sold better.

Right now, there's a very limited choice of smaller displacement street m'bikes available - we don't get the neat Honda CBR250 (Mexico does!), nor any of the Japanese 125s. So I'll keep the 305 for a while yet.

Bike runs great, no strange noises, missed shifts and the single disc is quite strong. Once warm, you can run it to the redline every shift and it just comes back for more. Pretty comfortable for single rider as well.

Stock mufflers long gone, and we can't get much in the line of replacements, like the Motad 2 into 1 I see in some of the owner pictures. Only new parts from dealer are oil filter, brake pads and such. Things like tanks and sidecovers are hard to find in good shape.

I have a perfect GPz550 too, but for pure fun, the little 305 is hard to beat!!

Any suggestions on type of tyres - I'll be needing a set soon? One note I saw suggested Bridgestone Battlax model.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Chris , My 305 has avon road runners ( thats what they use to be called - I think they have a number instead of a name now , possibly AM 57- I will find out at the week end whenI check my garage) I do know it is oversize on the back , so much so that I have had to put the spacers on the belt cover. Makes the bike handle better, a lot more grip at the back end and it rides a lot better. Laughing

nice to see a guest from over the pond on the board.
Parts are difficult to get here, too. The Kawa dealers still have them, but those are very expensive, and so a close but vivid second (let me say: multiple Wink )-hand market has established.

Last year I changed to the Michelin A 39 / M39 tires and I think it was a good choice. The Bridgestone BT 45's should be a good choice in similar quality, too.

Concerning the discs: Maybe two discs look better, but they don't work really good though Confused unless you don't support them with intensive praying. Very Happy
Regards
W. Z.

What does everybody think of the front brakes. My bother puts the blame for his Z250 going into a tank slapper firmly on the fact that it only had 1 disc ,. causing a twisting effect on the forks. I have noticed a slight weave on my 305 above 90 mph but I have put it down to the frame design coupled with flimsy forks. Anybody elses bike wobble at speed ?

... its all fine with my GPZ 305 --- at higher speeds, if the road is not that good it might whiggle a bit, but thats normal.. 120mm tires Razz whatewer brakes are just fine for this ages mashine, but on a 305 ya have 2 brake discs, so is ya experience problems on braking, be sure that both brakes are doing their job...
